Martial Arts in Olympics
Question
:
Taekwondo has been a part of the Olympics for a while. Chinese Wushu is a new addition in the Beijing Olympics next year. Do you know if any other Martial Arts are in the Olympic Pipeline to be added soon? I also wonder what are the criteria or other factors that determine if a martial art can be in the Olympics?

I believe that point karate and grappling are being looked at as we speak.
But they are a couple of hills to climb before fighters are chosen and contracts signed.
The I.O.C governs everything
I know for the past twenty years, the fight has been between the Koreans and the Japanese who or what was going to be the host ,but now the Americans with the WKA and USAKF, We are a force too!
Now the I.O.C has to choose which group has got it together more for international funding and power
It's Political
But it is fun to watch them tear at each other to see who will get the go-ahead .
If they do it like every other event ,there will be a event to qualify first and then move up as you win the right to compete .
Call your local AAU Chapter ,they should know more information on what is coming up
meanwhile train hard and wait for a qualifing event near your town or State
Goodluck !!!!!
